In recent days, we have received numerous questions about whether or not missing Sidney teacher Sherry Arnold has been found.
The status of the Arnold investigation has not changed - Sherry Arnold's body has not been found. Arnold's family and law enforcement believe that she was killed shortly after she disappeared during a morning run on January 7th, triggering a multi-state search that ultimately resulted in the arrest of two men, who now have been charged with kidnapping.
The reason so many people are wondering if Sherry's body has been found is that, when authorities first announced that Sherry was presumed dead, many news outlets posted the news with the headline "Missing Montana math teacher found dead."
Within hours, most media outlets realized that although Sherry was presumed to be dead, her body had not been found. Unfortunately, some national news organizations never revised their headlines, so the incorrect headline continues to pop up in social media feeds on Facebook and on internet searches, leading people to believe that she has indeed been found.
As noted in the picture below - that was captured this evening - the article is from three weeks ago. But in some cases, when a person clicks on the link within Facebook, it shows up in that person's "stream" with the headline - leading that person's friends or followers on Facebook to see the headline and immediately assume that it is "new" news.
As of today - February 2nd - there is no new information about the search for Sherry Arnold. We will update you as soon as there are any new developments.
