No injuries in Helena house fire

A house fire at 327 North Rodney was quickly extinguished on Friday morning, and no injuries were reported.

Two people inside the home escaped safely.

The family that lives in the is out of state, but the nanny of the children was staying in the home.

Dogs in the backyard were placed in the garage for safety while crews put out the blaze.

The fire broke out around 9:40 am and was out within an hour; most damage appears to be limited to the upper level of the home.

Streets in the area were blocked briefly.

Neighbor Tony Weller said, "I smelled some smoke first and then came downstairs, kind of wondering what it was, as the fire trucks went by and I came around the corner to see this giant old house just completely engulfed in flames, at least up in the attic."

Damage to the home is estimated at around $70,000.

The cause of the fire is being investigated; we will update you as we learn more.
